Daydream a little dream………..
If you could create something (business, organization, etc.) without the restraints financially or otherwise, what would it be and why?
WELL, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. I started to think how awesome our society embraces physical fitness by creating programs and locales to frequent (like the Y, she-she poo-poo fitness clubs, etc.)….which I think is fantastic (for the record).
Then I thought, you know-why hasn’t anyone created a “mental fitness center”????
A place that encourages, teaches, exercises and embraces ways to focus on “mental awareness” (creativity, spirituality, positive thinking, awareness, etc.)……Here’s my daydream vision:
Externally, the center would be built to embrace things that aren’t in abundance throughout the year, based on the particular environment it is located…for example, Michigan. The winters are long……..not everyone can afford a trip to Florida during the gray doldrums of Winter Solstice. Perhaps the “mental fitness center” would be a large conservatory filled with beautiful plants/flowers, water fountains, specialized light bulbs to accomodate lack of sunshine, etc. Incorporate the things that our senses appreciate (like in the summer months) when the late Fall season occurs through late Spring….the time when most people experience the blues and/or depression….(a little utopian get-a-way!)
Perhaps this Mental Fitness Center could offer services like art, music, writing, theater, etc. which would encourage every person to understand that we all have something that we enjoy and would love to practice on a regular basis (like the above mentioned)….If the person doesn’t know where or what category they fit into, assist them with a “personal trainer” (clever, right?)???
We focus alot on our bodies but we seem to forget that our minds’ need to be exercised as well! We need to learn and create positive thinking, ways to embrace it, ways to create, understand and embrace true happiness….create a place where people think similarly and want the same….a place where creativity OOZES…..
There are SOOOOOO many incredible theories and ideas out there, let’s put them to use! Let’s try them out! Anything from Music/Art therapy to Chromotherapy……
In addition to exercising our minds, maybe there could be services that offer different methods of healing that haven’t been discovered or embraced?
It just SEEMS to me that we focus a lot on our “bodies” but we are sort of forgetting the one organ that controls everything….our brains….
Crazy notion????? Or not? What do you think?????
